Camille Bernard

When I was a child, I had a list of about 3,000 careers that I wanted to pursue. When I got a little older, I realized that I didn’t really want to be many of those things, I just wanted to pretend to be them for a little while. That list included things like doctor, teacher, lawyer, pilot, athlete, policewoman, fire fighter, scientist, marine biologist, you get the idea…

Then there was another list of careers that I really wanted and they all had to do with creating. I wanted to be a fashion designer, painter, dancer, actor, singer, writer, you get the idea…

Those were the things that I really wanted to do. I actually started my own line on paper when I was about 12 years old. I dedicated an entire notebook to my fashion designs. And I filled about 6 or 7 pages. I wanted to show them to my friends and then got embarrassed at how bad the drawing was and decided that the designs really weren’t that good after all. And that was the end of my career as a fashion designer.

And now, on to the point of this entry. In the new show I’m writing (TAIL) the main character, Camille Bernard, is a fashion designer. Camille is my chance to live out that dream in a small way. So, in honor of Camille Bernard and the inner obsession that I’ve always harbored for fashion, here is my photo presentation of a fabulous outfit for winter in Chicago:

*DISCLAIMER* – In actuality, I couldn’t care less for labels but out of the respect for the designers whose work I’m using, I will give them full credit underneath their photos. Anything less would be tres disrespectful. And homegirl does not get down like that.

I didn’t even remember us creating our own language, lol…or attempting to, should I say!

But we were always pretty cool like that.

    *cool shades*

This post reminded me of how we tried to create our own language when we were children. I don’t think we ever made it through creating a whole alphabet, though. Wow. I had completely forgotten about that.

Anyhow, hip hip hooray for clarity in dreams and intentions! May you be blessed with the fuel your heart and body need to meet success with a sweet smile over and over!
